Two More Inky-Type Drawings
Still messing around with that drawing website. Definitely not the type of style that I'm used to, but I love how you can shade with this thing.

A WINNER IS ME
Hey, remember that entry about the button I made a while ago? I know, it was so far back that you probably don't remember it. Anyway. I won. I won the cookies. I won the cookies and the contest like a boss. So in addition to the cookies and contest I get a bunch of buttons with my design on them! Awesome! I'm excited.
I've been messing around with this lately and drew two pictures so far that I deem worthy enough to be shown on the global system of IP networks. So here. Eh. Check 'em out.

Flaxman Button Entry... and so much more.
I entered this contest that the library at my school is having to create buttons for them. I guess if you win you get cookies or something. Not the most lucrative reward, I guess... but whatever. Cookies are, after all, delicious victory medallions.
Here's an art dump of a few doodles. I hope you all are pleasantly charmed by them!

Shrouded Suffocation
Aaaand done! There's a lot more I could say about this drawing, but I will be vague and keep it at this: with this Peruvian Mask I was thinking about the masking of pain and heartbreak, bottling up emotions to the point of choking on one's own tears, struggling with suffering and being unable to fight it... and just trying to visualize that struggle. This is definitely a departure from the look of the other portraits I've done so far, and I actually think I'm going to continue with this style.
Peruvian Mask Figures
I'm not exactly certain what my fascination for these masks is. I draw a lot of strange, deformed figures sometimes in my sketchbooks and at first the masks were a way to hide some of the scars and scary features of these women. The added cartoon-y aspect of some of the ancient Peruvian markings and masks was also kind of a way to detract from the gory mysteriousness that's being hidden (see, art school has taught me to elucidate my art so well!). I've got some other drawings that I'm started to recolor that have been using the masks to block other things than just their faces, and I've been trying to think about secrets and multiple identities and just the concept of putting on different facades for different situations and people. Which is what lots of people tend to do anyway.
This is one that I'm working on right now... which is falling prey to me trying out new painting and shading techniques with Photoshop, also based on the notion of anonymity and death and whatnot. Kind of dark stuff. Hmm. I really should get back to drawing cartoons after this.

Big Sister
Happy August fellas!
I'm not feeling too well lately, but I've been trying to get some animation done (yeah yeah, I know, I'll put it up as soon as I finish it, I promise). While I've been doing that, I doodled this Big Sister from Bioshock 2 and decided to just go ahead and make it into a complete drawing. So there you go, the first drawing of the month!
I have nothing else to say except there definitely will be more to come.
